Celebrate the Year of the Tiger at Gunwharf Quays. We’re ringing in the Lunar New Year from 10.30am on Saturday 5th February with a host of traditional activities the whole family can enjoy, so put the date in your diary and prepare to be blown away by dances, martial arts demos and special brand deals!

It may be the Year of the Tiger, but all eyes will be on the spectacular lion dance and dragon dance during Saturday’s festivities!

In line with Chinese tradition, vibrant lion dancers will drive away evil spirits through an energetic performance, heralding good luck for the year ahead. The climax of the dance is ‘cai qing’ (‘plucking the greens’), when our brave lions are fed lettuce and a red envelope to bring prosperity.
